My oldest graduates 7/17 at Camp Pendleton. He found out today who he will be stationed with at the palms. We couldn't get there for the graduation. He's missing the sockeyes hitting the Kenai. He and I used to Dip them in the past so I going this weekend and hopefully getting our 45 fish. I told him if successful he better find I grill so his buddies could eat the fresh salmon I'll send him.

I am sure he will have a grill usually the barracks have nice grills and picnic tables; however at the palms I doubt he will have a stream nearby let alone a puddle...but I know he will enjoy the salmon--I am trying to send some venison to my son who is at Camp Pendleton--good luck to you and yours---I know you are proud, thank him for his service from a fellow father of a corpsman.

Alaska Dad;

I'm so sorry to hear you could not make the FMTB graduation. The 'Palms' kinda of makes it sound like a real tropical and beautiful place, doesn't it? ha ha ha

There are plenty of people who live off base and most everyone grills there. My son completed a 3 year tour of duty there. The base is what you make of it. It can be a real hell hole to be stationed at or it can be one of your best duty assignments. My son, said he would not mind at all going back.
