Recon and MARSOC

Anyone with Recon or MARSOC questions, please post them. I was the Recon ETL until late 2006 (my retirement) and did the enlisted HM manning for MARSOC. They need motivated Corpsmen!!

Senior Chief:
I am wanting to join the Navy Reserve, go HM, FMTB and then drill with the 4th Recon BN 4th Marine Division in San Antonio, TX. I live in Houston and the 3 hour drive would be worth it. How do I accomplish drilling with them. Would I need to join the Reserves in San Antonio? I spoke with the HM I&I a few weeks prior and he said that I had to try out for recon in order to drill with them. Is this correct? Any help would be appreciated. I have such a strong desire to serve my country as a HM and look forward to the challenge of going recon HM.
