Everyone should check out, Combat Diaries: The Marines of Lima Company. It's a great documentary of the hardest hit grunt unit in the iraq war.

I know a couple of DOcs that were with Lima during this deployment.. Wonder if they have seen this yet.. I know form my own experiences that it is theraputic on some levels to help say good bye to the fallen through stuff like this.

I have a copy of this documentary and it is good, I had the pleasure of serving with HM3(FMF) Youngblood with 3rd BN 3rd Marines in Kaneohe Bay, HI and after seeing this documentary I knew he was with a good unit and he was the same old Youngblood through it all.

I live down the street from Sergeant Justin Hoffman's father. My daily run takes me past his house twice. To put it lightly I'll call it motivating.

Everyone knows the story of HM3 Youngblood, I know it all to personally..

You see.. And this is why I am the way I am for those of you with Boots in the Sand..

I was the one at Naval Hospital Great Lakes that put his name on the list for that deployment. I was the one who selected him, I was the one who sent him off to do battle ...

And he did not come home..

CrazyCajun, He knows how much this hurt and it took a long time to get over it.

As leaders we have to send folks out to do battle, hoping beyond all hope that they come back. I worked with LT Stanley who was the POMI at our hositpal, and he and I sat and picked and picked and picked.. it was hard as we were sending folks out who had already gone etc.. but that was the mission.

HM3 went in with a BALLS TO THE WALLS attitude, he never once "BITCHED" about it.. it was a AYE AYE Chief and off he went..

As I have heard from those who served with him over there. He was the same way there..

He is my "1" HERO I will always remember, he is the 1 voice I will carry with me for the rest of my life..
