Hi. I am looking for a second source of information as a check for what I am being told at MEPS. I have looked at about.com but the information appears that it might be out of date (CNRC Enlistment Bonus Message Effective 19 Jun 05?) and I could not find where the most current message(s) might be posted.
Specificially under the normal active duty program (not NCS or Reserve programs):
1.) What is the required enlistment contract period for the HM rating? 5 or 6 years?
2.) Are there any acitve duty bonuses for this rating?
3.) Are there bonuses for prior college credit?
Thanks.

Gretings,
For HM for active duty there are 5 year and 6 year programs, the Recruiters and the Counselors at the Mep station would have the particulars. What is good one month may not be good the next. Sometimes they give bonuses when numbers are down or say if they want you to dep in to a slow month like JAN.
Depending on the program you could have to do 6 years.. (I.e SEAL, RECON) etc.. Our regular enlistement though is "5' years.
Hope this helps..

this may be something you have to work out with your recruiter or job placer at meps, but i got a bonus for having prior college credit. he told me i didn't have enough for E3 (36 i believe, 100 level and above), but i did have enough for an enlistment bonus (low 30s).

hey there. My contract was for HM for 5 years. I also received a $4000 bonus for my prior college. However, to do this I also had to extend my 5 year contract to 6 years. I was also given E3. Hope that helps.

Now the word is- HM, E2 and $3k for prior college credit. Maybe its a typo but the document appeared to say 4 years if I was reading it correctly. Is it even possible.... 4 years? I am 23 and had right around 55 units of prior college credit.
