Quick question about the final multiple for the E-4 exam. The new order states that for service in pay grade it will be the Sailor's "Service in Paygrade + 7.5" for a maximum of 15 points. Is your service in pay grade the amount of months as an E-3 plus 7.5? That is what makes the most logical sense, but we all know how the military works.
I went to boot on 02 OCT 06 as an E-1. Made E-2 at the 9 month mark being 02 AUG 07. Made E-3 at the 9 month mark being 02 MAY 08. The test is on 18 SEP 08, so do I have 4 months as an E-3? Therefore I would have 4 + 7.5 = 11.5 as my SIPG.?????? Thanks for your help.

According to your theory, grasshopper, the numbers are wrong. Four months out of a year would be .333 or one third.

I know there are motivated HNs who have either taken the test and PNAed plus non-motivated HNs who failed to study and failed who would have over a year in rate considering testing is done twice a year. This would have to give them a number over one with a percentage such as 1.333 or one year and four months.

Hope it makes sense. Don't know if I am right.

So you're saying that it's not the number of months plus 7.5. As in if someone had been an E-3 for 12 months they don't get 12 + 7.5, they instead get 1 + 7.5, the 1 coming from years in paygrade rather than months. You lost me on the PNA points.
Where does the number that gets added to 7.5 originate from?

...grasshopper...Four months out of a year would be .333 or one third...

Grasshopper: "Master, how is it that you can know these things?"

Master Poe: "Grasshopper, how is it that you cannot"?

The above statement is true.

If someone has been an E-3 for 12 months (1 year) the math would be
1 + 7.5 for a total of 8.5.

If someone has been an E-3 for 16 months (1 year and 4 month) the math would be 1.33 + 7.5 for a total of 8.83. The months are converted to decimal form by dividing the number of months by 12 ( 4/12=.33).

If you need to know your SIPG, Go talk to your Personnel Specialist and they should be able to give you that. When you sign your worksheet it will be on there.
