View Full Version : Females at FMTB?
Okay so I have this random question. I was told by a few people in the Navy that females are not allowed to be attached to any Marine units, the can go to a "MASH unit..but not likely". So why even allow them to go to FMTB if they are "not allowed"? I think this person needs to do more research because I was under the impression that women CAN go to Marine Units...just not with infantry. What is the truth? :err:
Taken from the FMTB East (http://www.lejeune.usmc.mil/fmtb/index.shtml) 'Strategic Plan':
FMTB Mission Statement
"To train Navy Medical Department personnel and Religious Program personnel in the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to serve with and support the Marine Corps"
As a female Corpsman, you will learn to support the Marine Corps. Current military policy states that females are not to be assigned to combat units. However, most all types of units deployed have encountered some form of hostile action.
You can read a great deal about American Woman in Uniform. (http://userpages.aug.com/captbarb/) Especially about Spec. Monica Brown from the 782nd Brigade Support Battalion...stands over Forward Operating Base Salerno in Khowst province, Afghanistan. Brown is the second woman since World War II to earn a Silver Star for gallantry in combat.

My Question is this..
"Whats a COMBAT UNIT" these days?? It used to be when you were with "GROUP" you were in the REAR with the GEAR..
These days the Gear has to get up front.. Guess who gets to bring it, all the way through that combat country..
;-)
Good Luck!
:D well it would be a great job :D any HM job would be great. Not saying it is easy...it will be a challange..but I am addicted to challanges...I am an adrenaline junky.
