First, It's my first time to the site, if there is "An Introduce Yourself forum", let me know and I will post there.
My question is this. Currently the IDC w/ 8th ESB, has anyone heard anything about the status of the AVIP program? Last time I heard it was up at Headquarters of the Marine Corps. Any feed back would be great. Thanks ahead of time

Thanks, To my understanding this has been sitting around for a couple of months. I'm going ahead with the vol program, but I don't want to messing with imms in Iraq.

Docito151,
Yes, as of now the Anthrax Program is still a volunteer program.
DOD has put their policy in place for the Mandatory Program.
Though SecNav and HQ Marine Corps have not released their policies as of this time. I've been asking the appropriate personnel at II MEF and they have been pinging the Highers still with no idea when it will be released.
Sorry, to give you the answer you already had, though that's all we have at the present time.

Yes i've been in the Lejeune/Cherry Point area for going on 10years now. I seem to like this place. Don't really want to leave here or at least that's what the wife tells me.

This came out last month. We're back onnnn.

The Department of Defense announced today a resumption of the mandatory Anthrax Vaccine Immunization Program (AVIP) for military personnel, emergency-essential DoD civilians and contractors, based on defined geographic areas or roles. The policy also allows personnel previously immunized against anthrax, who are no longer deployed to higher threat areas, to receive follow-up vaccine doses and booster shots on a voluntary basis.

That is true, DOD has put their policy out.
Again we have to wait for service policy to come out. DOD set their policy out and the Navy/Marine Corps have to do their part to meet the intent of the DOD Policy.
When I go up the COC here, they keep tell us that we are to follow the old guidlines until Big Navy/Marine Corps put out their instructions. No one wants to jump on the bandwagon without the service instructions because of the legal side of this program. Proceed with precaution and follow the guidance put out by your specific COC.

This isa problem these days in that email, internet and word-of-mouth get DOD Memorandums confused into doctrine. This Memorandum from the undersec of Defense, would have never seen light of day in a Navy or Marine Corps command in years past.
A similar confusion arose all over the Navy & Marine Corps a couple years back over a 2-year HIV policy, which, to date is still every year in the Marine Corps (not sure about the Navy). However, there were several clinics/BASs on both sides of the DON that proceeded to draw HIVs every 2 years - erroneously. I still address this issue (in fact, Thursday of last week, corrected one of my newly reported HM2s).
Like Crazycajun said - wait for the MARADMIN on the USMC side& NAVADMIN on the Blue side, respectively.
