Ok I Have Been Tossing and turning in my sleep about this thing because i am not sure how this new bill works. I have read stuff on the web but i need a better understanding. Ok I was wondering can you get both the MGIB and POST 9/11 BILL.

I asked b/c I am choosing whether to take the NCF bonus or the $3000 +1YR. If we can get both of the bill then i would take the cash b/c then i wouldnt have to worry about school money when i get out. But if we cant then i guess i will stick w/ the NCF but man that $3OOO sounds nice but that extra YR is killin me LOL

So Can Someone Help Me Please :swn::confused:

Ok.. I am can read this without my BP being elevated now..

Come on I am a old man..

Ok.. here is the deal... It all depends on what training your going to go to when you get out of the military..

Are you going to a University or a regualar College??

Are you interested in doing "TECH TRANING" , or Pilot Training?

Reason I ask.. the new G.I. Bill does not pay for the Tech or Pilot training, you can only receive monies from the old GI Bill if you paid into it for those types of training.

As for the new GI BILL (Post 9/11) If your going to go to college and you know for sure this is what your going to do, You "DO NOT" Have to pay into the program, and as long as you do over 3 years of Active duty you will be fully vested in the new program.

If your not sure, what your going to do when you get out, they are advising that you pay into the the program (1200.00) which you would get on the backend of the 9/11 program if you go to colleg,(I.e it would be paid back to you in school benefits) on the back end of your 36 months of benefits.

BUT if you go to a tech school you would fall get some financial help/support under the pre-9/11 program.

The only question I have for you, what the heck is NCF? are you sure your not being enlisted in the "NCS" program? If your NCS, your not elegible for the Post 9/11 GI BILL, or the Pre-9/11 GI bill.

Let me know..

I think he is talking about the Navy College Fund (NCF). From what I understand that is a bonus type of deal. You can either get the NCF or the bonus. Kind of like the LRP (loan repayment program), you can not get both the LRP and the sign on bonus (such as extending an extra year...). I am sure someone will be able to correct me if it is not right.

NFC is Navy College Fund....so like can i use the NFC with the post 9/11 bill.

As far as school goes when i get out i wanna come out of the navy with my BA degree and then probably go for my Masters. i only have like 2yrs left eto get my BA. so im thinkin i will just stick with the NFC instead of the 3k and the extra year
