Hey all, I just got my orders out of NHCS for Camp Lejeune, and then I'm off to MCAS Cherry Point, NC.
I'm sort of confused about my orders and no one's giving me straight answers, so I was hoping maybe someone on here could help me out.
What I don't get is whether I'm FMF Wing with a squad, or if I'm in a clinic doing outpatient, etc. Would my orders specify a squad if I was given one?
My orders say:
------- ULTIMATE ACTIVITY (S) -------
REPORT NOT LATER THAN
TO NHCL CHERRY POINT FH CLJUN DET UIC: 40212
PERMANENT DUTY STATION CHERRY POINT, NC
FOR DUTY ACC: 100
ASSIGNED RATE: HN DNEC1: 8404 DNEC2: PRD: 1103
PERSONNEL ACCOUNTING SUPPORT: CUSERVDESK CAMP LEJEUNE NC
UIC: 43354
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The way the orders read "FH CLJUN DET" would indicate a field hopsital detachment; what I am not sure about is the UIC # behind it. I am quite sure the others will correct me if I am wrong.
Call personnel at the hospital on DSN and tell them you are reporting and when plus what the orders state, they can clarify for you.

looks like to me that you are assigned to the Naval Health Clinic Camp Lejeune (blue side) with a detachment to a fleet hospital also (blue side).

It seems to me that you are an 8404/quad zero? If that's the case you'll work at the hosp. but will have many opportunities to volunteer for some really cool stuff. You could go to a squadron as Marine Squadrons typicaly have 2 HMs. One is an 8406/04 and the other an 8404/0000. It'll be what you make it. Have fun ;)

When I graduated at what was then FMSS (now FMTB), I was told to report to 1MAW, DETC, MCAS Iwakuni Japan. Had no idea at the time, but after reporting in and doing "busy" (but needed) work like washing ambulances, went out with EOD on two days, and "other duties as assigned" for a couple of days and processing, I ended up doing ward duty (general service ward) for about 14 weeks or so.
Eventually, I ended up in a Field Medical Warehouse, inventorying supplies for the field hospitals. Actually participated in an exercise where we set up the entire hospital, seeing patients and everything. Had that thing set up within 48 hours of getting word to do it. Those were some long hours.
Also mobilized a partial set up, transported via LST to somewhere in Korea and provided medical support to the Marines participating in a joint exercise. We were there for six weeks.....fun stuff.
All as an 8404/0000

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help.
So what would be the feasibility of me getting attached to a FMF Wing unit through that clinic since it's right in MCAS Cherry Point?

By the looks of your orders you will be assigned to the Hospital, the whole FH is just a deployable billet. I have been here at Cherry Point as a 01/04 and getting ready to go to Pensacola for 06 school. But the likely hood of you getting a squadron is probably slim all of the squadrons are out of New River and those already have Hm's assigned. But you never know. Good luck

The first thing is : NHCL CHERRY POINT FH CLJUN DET. That indicates Naval Health Clinic, Cherry Point, Fleet Hospital Camp Lejune Detatchment. You are assigned to the clinic. For deployments, you are assigned to the Fleet Hospital Detatchment.
Glad we got that all cleared up :)
You are going to Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point. You should contact the Manpower department there to best determine which directorate/clinic you will be assigned to. As far as squadron/Fleet Hospital...those days are over. There is no MAP program anymore, and the HSAP program that replaced it can detail you to any IA or augment billet necessary. Platform specifics are over with. As far as getting a Wing/squadron assignment for deployment out of Cherry Point, the most likely ones would be MWSS-271 or MWSS-274 - neither of which have aircraft. In fact, there are 7 regiment-level (Group & HQ) commands, and 47 squadron/battalion level commands in 2d MAW - New River, Cherry Point and Beaufort. Of these, 26 are operational aircraft squadrons (VMGR/VMAQ/VMA/VMFA/VMFA(AW)/VMM/HMM/HMH/HMLA), 3 are training aircraft squadrons (HMT/VMMT/VMAT), 1 is an unmanned vehicle squadron (VMU) and 24 are group HQs, support, intermediate maintenance, and command/control squadrons (MWHS/MAG/MACG/MWSG/MTACS/MASS/MACS/MWCS/LAAD/MWSS/MALS). Almost all "MAP" billets on the aircraft squadron T/O&E are 8406, though there are a few 8404 augments.
