Feedback on DVD playback

Looking for someone who may be able to offer some assistance - My son (Kahuna5150) is running Windows Media Player on his laptop - I finally got DVDs to be able to play but am getting tons of feedback for the audio no matter what settings I use. Any assistance would be totally appreciated. :D
