Hey, I am currently delayed entry for navy reserves (HM FMF). I ship in January and I have a couple corpsman specific questions I thought I would ask. Where will I go for A school? (I'm from Minnesota if that matters) Also, I am slightly confused about C school, is it "optional" or do you have to be picked for it? Where is C school? and how long?

Great Lakes, IL Corpsman 'A' school is across the street from Recruit Training Command or RTC (http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/index.html).

For Reservists, many Recruiters refer to Field Medical Training Battalion or FMTB (http://www.lejeune.usmc.mil/fmtb/index.shtml) as a 'C' school, it is not! FMTB is not voluntary, but many volunteer for and request it. FMTB is currently an 8 week school. There are two locations for this school and where you are from has no bearing on which location you will be sent to:
1.) Camp Lejeune, North Carolina
2.) Camp Pendleton, California

thank you very much! this was very helpful. Do you know what does decide which location you are sent to?
Do you know what does decide which location you are sent to?
Openings (available seats in the class) at the location!
We have heard of Sailors who lived and enlisted on the East Coast getting orders to FMTB on the West Coast.

Location plays a minor factor, the most deciding factor is available seats in the class.
