I just enlisted as a corpsman, and im curious: Does the training/experiences given help me in continueing a medical career once i get out? I dont want to spend 5 years in the service and not be able to follow that field when i get out.. Im also curious as to what civilian-side job its closest to? EMT... RN?
Do you get college credits or a degree while in the service? that would help me continue this field?

Any rate you enlist in the Navy as will give you some kind of "civilian world" experience. HMs get a great deal of training and it's probably one of the easiest rates to make a transition from active duty to civilian life.
As far as a civilian job correlation, it all depends on what you do as a corpsman. Most general duties that you'll learn will be most applicable to an RN. However, there are some Corpsman NECs that parallel more into EMTs
(SAR Corpsman).
You'll receive 6 lower level college credits when you complete HM 'A' School (plus 2 others for completing boot camp). You'll also get college credits each time you're promoted in your rate. However, to get a degree while enlisted, it's going to take some outside college classes, but Tuition Assistance comes in very handy there.
Hope that helps.
