Its been over 14 years since being out to sea and I can't remember the name of the green stretchers that we used for extrication. they were made of some type of nylon and "wrapped" the injuried person in perfect immoblization for lifting out of areas like Shaft Alley.....Can someone help out an old man with dementia .....Dave
Things look kinda slow, I'll check back later this evening.....BZ

Allright let me preface this by telling you a little about myself (not bragging-just background). Since leaving the salty service I am a critical care RN and I am a volunteer firefighter on my parish fire service (we are all vollee's- no one gets paid including the Chiefs). I am on the fire departments board of commissioners and recently took the position of station Chief here in my area. I have been touting what Corpman do in the service and have relied heavily on my Corps training (it will last a lifetime). The Neil Robertson Litter..now that has been a thorn in my side. We really could use one here and yet you can't find one on E-Bay/......Any ideas on where one could be purchased or maybe even..say...donated.....
want some intresting history?....see what kind of individual invented the Thomas Half Ring Splint......If I'm not mistaken...Yep, a Corpsman..

Dave,
My wife is a ICU Nurse as well.. Former Doc herself. Hmmm.. Let me look around.. you know we always have names for things..Civ's might call them something else.. I know they still use them on the ships.. Let me get with some of my Salty Brothers tomorrow and ask them. I am a Sand and Air Guy, I used to waive out the window at ya'll..
;-)
Your in LA? I saw the word Parrish.. Was down there for 9 years. CrazyCajun is from LA himself. We should change your name to "Boudreaux.."
;-)

Dave,
I've googled the strecher and have only found them pretty much being sold in the UK.
It is a very good strecher for pulling people out of the engineering spaces.
Good luck!
a corpsman also invented the KED I believe

I'm not sure we have the Neil Robertson aboard ship any more. I was in charge of AMMAL at Military Sealift Command for all the Navy's civilian ships when I retired and we no longer had them on our AMMAL. There were a few in the fleet but no longer required. I also just checked COMNAVSURFORINST 6000.1 (the Bible) and this is what is listed for litters. Stokes of various configurations, Pilot Rescue Litter, Pole Litter, and the Reeves Sleeve. "When the Reeves Sleeve and the spine board are used together, they are designed to provide immobilization during patient movement in both horizontal and vertical planes."
Check with the DRMO's if such a thing still exists. Maybe they have some rotting away in a corner somewhere.

lets start with the "Boudreaux" comment...I'm not that far south..we are more of an annex of Texas up here...lol..
You know, it seems that some of the best stuff used is going by the way side now days. I know the Reeves Sleeve is good and the spine board is good as well, however, in that really tight confined space nothing really beat the Neil Robertson.
I am an old Spruance jockey...987 was Decomm'd a year or so ago..sold to turkey....Yep, the best stuff is going by the way side...
Question for CrazyCajun...did you get your King Cake this year?...sure enjoyed mine.........Dave

The Neil Robinson Stretchers are no longer utilized aboard surface ships after an AMMAL change quite a few years back. I am currently onboard a CG and while the Neil Robinson is still listed on the First-Aid quals, haven't seen one in my 3 years aboard. We use a Miller Half-Back extraction litter for deep extrications, as well as a common Reeves Sleeve. Hope this helps.
