Hello everyone. I am 23 yrs old and will be graduating in Dec with a BA in psychology. I enlisted in the US Navy in August as an E-3, but I will not be shipped until June 2009. My recruiter thinks that it is a great idea for me to become an officer. Any suggestions, comments, concerns? I am sort of nervous about OCS. What are my options after bootcamp? Is the swimming test in bootcamp hard? I am overwhelmed about this whole process. I guess its fearing the unknown. Any information will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Hmm a BA in psychology. Could you legally be a psychologist now? Idk what the licensing requirements are for psychologists or psychiatrists...

But if i were you and I wanted in the navy I would DEFINITELY look into officer options...

Or if you need to go to graduate school for whatever reason...get that paid for by the Navy and then go officer.

Haha you are the backdoor of me, 24 and getting in the navy, i'll be 25 and getting out of the navy...with my BS...if it all works out! ha!

I would have to go to graduate school to become a licensed psychologist or whatnot, but I am giving it some thought. What did you get your BS in?

Ah I think I might of mistyped my post...

I am currently 19 and going into the Navy I plan on leaving when I get my BS in..."input major here" hehe

You have your bachelor's you can get an officer spot no problem...but if you can get graduate school paid for...why not go for it.

I am backdoor because you are a "traditional" student...I am "non-traditional" student, that is how medical school views it anyways hehe

I plan to get my BS while I am in then going to medical school/post bacc.

You should get a hold of an officer recruiter to see your other potentials.
Imagine grad school paid for....hot dayum!
