Well Chief I spoke to you last night and I'm back again. So in reference to "A" school you gave me a little insight on the FMSS thing. Now a couple of other questions. My husband is an EMT-I. I was wondering being that he is current on all his paperwork as an EMT is he going to be able to skip some of the classes? Also how soon can he begin taking tests and labs. And the last question totally off track but how much liberty will he get right out of the shoot when he reports to school on the 29th. I hope I am posting in the right forum but not sure.

Brooke,
Well if you were to ask me today.. All the students are on "TOTAL LOCKDOWN" as they have come back like a pack of pigs after leave..
As for his EMT I'ness. Nope he still has to go through everything.. But he should be able to go through fast.. It is at his own pace.. It takes about 12 days though for the class up process, then if he hits the deck running hell we have had people get through in 30 days if they can do it...
Hope this helps..

Thanks Chief for the information. So it looks like liberty for him is pretty much out of question for awhile?

Also have two more dumb questions and I promise I will not ask you any more. Is he allowed to have his laptop and also do you guys have wi-fi in "A" school?

Chief you weren't kidding about the "TOTAL LOCKDOWN". Will those kids ever listen and pay attention? They are just screwing themselves oh well maybe they will wise up now. They might get unsecured on Monday Mark said but it could last again till next friday.
On another note brooke_amey yes your husband can have his laptop in "A" school. He can have just about anything i believe. I sent my husband some DVD's he other day due to one on his roomies has a DVD player. Hope that helps you out.

Thanks for the information corpsman77wife. Do they have wi-fi or do you know? Also when you say lockdown what do you mean? Do they have to stay in their barracks or do they just have to stay on base? How long does this lockdown last?

My understanding of "Lock Down" is they have to stay in barrack and can only go to chow. They aren't able to leave and go anywhere else doesn't matter what Phase liberty they are. My husband has been on Lock Down since I believe the beginning of the week. Not sure on how long Lock Down can last depends on the students and them doing what they are supposed to do. Mainly it seems like the kids (and what I mean by kids is the younger sailors like 18yrs old) aren't listing. My husband is much older then the majority of the students he is 29. Once your husband gets to "A" school you will be able to talk to him everyday. So what is Wi-Fi? Never heard of that.

Wi-Fi = Wireless Internet Connections. I can answer if Corpschool has it available, though I do know some people have their computers online there though I believe they have to pay for services.
This is one for Da'Chief since he works there.

No problem I am new at the Military stuff like you so I have had and still have many questions. Da-Chief is a real good resource. He has helped me with many questions. Believe me no question is a dumb question so ask away. I might be able to help you if I know the answer!

Can you answer another question for me pertaining to this website. What is "mana"? I notice you have green lights and I don't. What's the difference?

Well corpsman77wife you have been a great help and I appreciate it. I am not new to the military stuff as being that I was an Army brat but I am new to the Navy side. I agree with you the Chief has been a great help.

Well I have another question for you corpsman77wife. When they get to "A" school and hopefully when he gets their on the 29th they won't be on lockdown when do they get to have liberty or just be free from the barracks? If you know that's great if not I understand.

Well he is only going to be phase I liberty when he gets there. That means he can go anywhere on base. He can't leave off base for the day until he is phase II. If he gets there and they are on a LOCK DOWN no he won't be able to go anywhere. The lock down is going on for the whole corps side right now. Is he getting any liberty after he grads boot? He will have 12 days before he will class up like chief said. He will be doing briefs all day. My hubby hated it oh he complained so much to me. Once he is classed up and starts taking some test he then can get to phase II liberty where he can then leave off base and drink but have to be back in the barracks by 22:00. When he gets to phase III he can leave off base on friday and then return on sunday by 22:00 i believe.

What do you mean by class up? Do you want to chat in the chat room? Its faster?
"Mainly it seems like the kids (and what I mean by kids is the younger sailors like 18yrs old) aren't listing." - corpsmanwife77
It isn't necessarily the younger sailors that are the only ones screwing up - some of the over 21's are getting busted and causing just as many of the problems as the younger ones. They need to remember that this isn't college - you have a responsibility to have your barracks and uniform PERFECT all the time!!! If you don't then you will be held accountable for it as well as every other sailor at corps school. Unfortunately that means when you screw up- EVERYONEgets punished for it. I know it sucks - Dan was supposed to get liberty this past weekend and was stuck on corps-side instead.
But he knows that he wasn't the reason that he was stuck there. Not that it makes it any easier to deal with because itdoesn't, but knowing that you aren't one of the ones that everyone is pissed at for screwing themhelps (just a little) :D
sorry for the rant

Ahh Dee Dee no biggie. Believe me I won't be happy if I make it a point to take a trip to see the hubby and find out that I can't see him due to a LOCK DOWN. I know it isn't just the younger ones just at the time its what I had to say. True they need to realize it isn't college but I don't think it has quite sunk in with all the trouble they have been getting into. Oh well it will just make the hubby take the test faster to get out of there.
