Ok, off kilter question and I didn't know where else to post, so it's going here. I am wondering what the tests are like at NHCS? I know when we took our tests out in Pensacola for Apprenticeship training, we were encouraged to take good notes because we could use them on the tests. Is this also the case at NHCS? Thanks.

Mestup,

I'm not there yet. I report 17 JUL 07. Woo! I do have the Hospital Corpsman book completed that I ordered from CNET and I'm pretty sure it covers the blunt of what we'll be studying at NHCS. I'll start hitting that book as soon as I take my EAWS board at the end of this month. Sorry for the confusion. Haha.

Out of curiosity sort of in the same line of questions (I also have not shipped to basic yet) what is this corpsman book and I have been told that there are 13 tests that need to be compleated at NHCS is there somewhere that there is more info on these 13 test or at least the subjects.... and I was told that while at NHCS you take your NREMT-B test... If I already have that do I take it again??? or??? anywho any info would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

The Corpsman book is something you can get your hands on only if you're active duty from the Naval Advancement Center.

There is MORE than enough time to study the material while at corps school. A lot has to do with your learning style, but if you are pro-active in your studies then you will do fine. There are too many students that go to zappers (a hangout place) or just hang out and talk with their friends. Go to the CRC's and actually study. I hit the books while at the school house, and then once released, I didn't study at all in the afternoon and night. On the weekends I would go to the CRC's (quite on the weekends) and study for one hour. I never scored below and 80% on the test and graduated 20 days ahead of schedule. This is after a .692 gpa at college. You just have to apply yourself. Don't worry about it now, you will have time to study.

You DO NOT I repeat "DO NOT" get your EMT-B out of Corps School. We do however use the BRADY book for a section of the curriculum.

I would rather you wait till you get here to start studying.. We are in the midst of a big change in curriculum up here and I would hate to pass bad gouge.

I know that we will be tought all you need to know once your at school... how ever I have to opportunity to run with a medical Support and Stand by team this summer so I know what general things i should be looking at I can try to chose events and training options that will help set me up to be the best medic I can be... if your advice is truly STAY OUT OF ANY TRAINING I will do my best to do that...

No that was not my advice..

My advice was..

I will not send you any of the materials for our classes right now as they might be bad by the time you get here. I.e we have made extensive changes to the curriculum.

If you get a chance to work in a PT environment now do so.. It will help
