Can Corpsman attached to FMF units that are embarked on ships eligible for the Surface Warfare pin? The NAVADMIN is unclear on this.

After completing your primary pin, you can go after a secondary pin. Just remember, surface is the hardest and most in-depth pin the Navy has. It is so broad, and time consuming, you have to dedicate a lot of your own time to study it and learn the practical application for the walk throughs. You will need at least 6 months, if not the full 18 month to complete it and most people not attached to the ship fall short of it due to time constraints.

Ususally with Surface Warfare, you have to work through every department of the ship to learn their "jobs" or taskings. You have to be able to answer questions pertaining to all and any subject concerning that type of ship to an oral board.

I understand what is involved in getting a warfare pin. Neither of you answered my question. The section of the NAVADMIN is unclear on this situation. Are corpsman attached to FMF commands which are embarked on commissioned U.S. Navy ships eligible to try and get their Enlisted Surface Warfare Qualification?

I did answer you and the Simple answer is Yes.

Get with the ships medical dept and find the warfare coordinator to sign your page 13 and get your PQS.
