Ok Chief and everyone out there...I have some questions and i need some help. I am 0000 stationed at NMCSD, CA and Im up for sea duty orders....I was offered DDG-21 out of Everett, WA or AVT school with follow on orders to North Island. I repoerted here in Nov 06 from Japan (overseas shore) on limited duty and I was taken off limdu this month and Im ready to go. As I was surfing the web today I noticed on Navy Personnel Command that AVT and SAR are combining or have combined or will be. Can females do this? What are the numbers like for females? I just wanted opinions on what it takes to be both. I'l love any input..as we say back in tennessee THANK Y'ALL~!

What is DDG 21? I was on USS COCHRANE DDG 21 in the early 80's. She is long since decommissioned. I googled DDG 21 and the Cochrane is all that comes up. I served aboard 3 small boys as a Baby Doc and IDC. It is among the best duty that I experienced in 26 years.

Im sorry. I meant DDG 86- Shoup. My father was on the cochrane when he was in the Navy as an EM2 Moretto.
