Betters,

Alright, so a bit of background on me,

1) I have sickle cell, so I am disqualified from going to FMTB (proven by 2 written waivers from me trying for the contrary)

2) I am up for sea duty

3) the Online Detailing Site only has 3 submarine tenders (W.A.S. billets), CBRIF billet (which im thinking 8404 would be perfered), and Barhain for 1yr.

So, my question is this. say I want to go to an overseas hospital which is listed as shore duty. What are my chances that I would be able to go if none of the other billets are up for grabs?

Just wanted some input before i talk to the CCC.

THANKS!

Anything is possible. I went from overseas shore to stateside shore to overseas shore to state side shore to sea duty (my NEC didnt have a sea duty to rotate to until recently). Overseas shore is a different type of duty than regular shore as well, so its not a negative thing to do.

Never hurts to ask for it if you see it there, worst they can do is say no, then just try again :).

I had posted this on one of your other comments on another thread since you want to learn about green side: what about the Amphib carriers (LHD, LHA) or gator frieghters (LSD, LPD)?

It would give you a chance to work both sides of medical and earn your SW and possibly AW or FMF pin...plus great training in the process.
