View Full Version : New to Site, Saying HELLO
I just wanted to drop a quick line or two to say hello, and introduce myself before I start posting questions all over the board! :P
I'm currently an SK2 serving on a ship, but I am running a SCORE package to hopefully convert to Corpsman. My CCC's say that things look good so far, but only time will tell for sure.
Have a great weekend!!

I am also new to the site, I had written the chief and e-mail with some questions, that he most rapidly answered for me. Found this site when I was cruising around looking for UNSR information. I am a paramedic in Chicago for the F.D. and looking at the route of going in hopefully 8404. So far many of my questions have been answered but I'm sure new ones will resurface in the futer. Just waiting right now, rehabbing after shoulder surgery. Hope to be 110% by June. Then I can really get the ball rolling. So hey everyone, look foward to some discussions and learning. Great web site by the way!

Fish,
Good to see you on the site. If your free Wed night, we are having a chat in the chat room 2000 CST. You can get a lot of info from one of these.
I can ask that one of the Reservists who has the same quals as you be there to answer your questions.

Chief,
Sorry I would have liked to come to the chat but was unable to make it. Hopefully will be able to join in more in the future. Still surf around the site and enjoy the reading. Thanks

Hello, I am also new to the site. I got recommended by one of your most popular devil docs on this site. I am a reservist on active duty in Germany. I am learning about this site. Chief, what is the fastest way to push an NEC through BUMED? A critical one?

well first off, you need to let him know what your exact situation is. The fact that you already possess above and beyond what is required of the NEC you are trying to get.. Oh yea and welcome to the site :)

Ok, so I have 2 B.S.'s one Health Sciences and the other Clinical Laboratory Sciences. I am a full functioning Medical Technologist back home, no certification yet though, and I have been trying to get my NEC since we mobilized in October. I was told by some officers here that they couldn't push my NEC through because I don't have the certification, but if I recall, you only need that for an Officer package. And then I have my recruiter back home helping me with it, but that was about 4 weeks ago. He said he is waiting on my official transcripts, but I don't think they should take that long. The crappy thing is, I am here in Germany and I can't just go do things myself like I normally would do. I have a copy of my transript and that is it. It is not official.
Thanks DiG!!!

Chief, in a nutshell... she is a Medical Technologist in her civilian job. in the navy she is a 0000. she wants to be awarded the lab tech NEC. What does she need to do. I have known a few people who have civilian medical specialties, they fill out some sort of waiver then get the specialty NEC.

No waiver she just has to apply for it show all her documentation etc.. submit with a 1306/7 etc.. and apply for it through BUPERS..
Her Training DEPT should be able to look up how to do this.. if not call BUMED...
