I am just about to graduate from corps school and I recieved verbal orders to Advanced Lab Tech School in San Diego....I was just wondering if there was anybody out there to give me more info on the school....about how the school is actually run, how many college credits I may get out of it, what the NEC actually entails after school is over. Any information would be great. Thanks in advance!!!

Shipmate sorry for the late response..
Congrats on the Pee and poop school. :-)
It is a good school, I hope you want to be locked into this NEC because once your trained in it, it is hard to get out. You will be going to school for 1 year after which you will be able to take the National Registry for Lab Tech's and when you get out make about 20-25 dollars a hour starting.
I am not sure about the college credits, are you trying to be a lab officer type degree?
Reason I know this crap, I was married to a lab tech a while back. (She is now a LTCOL in the AF..)
I myself would not recommend this to someone who wants to stay in the Navy, but if you are using it to get yourself educated to use on the outside, it is one of the few schools where you can do so when you get out.
Congrats again..

thank you for responding chief. my goals for this school and the navy are to finish my bachelors and go to PA school. I was/am not sure how long I want to stay in the navy, but I do want to use the navy and its education to help further my career on the outside....
so you are saying this would be a good choice for that type of career path? I was thinking about going officer after I completed my bachelors, would that be better or should I actually get out at that point?
I am contracted for an initial 6 yrs...so after that, like I said, I really don't know where this road will lead.
