View Full Version : prep
Does anyone have suggestions on material I could use to better prepare for corpsman school? I'm not too worried about rtc training, but would really like to be prepared for A school. Would an anatomy atlas, or emt coursebook be useful for instance? I still have 5 months to prepare and have very little knowledge of the medical field. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You
Many Sailors have attended Corpsman 'A' school without any medical experience or advance preparation and have successfully completed the course.
The main thing is to stay focused, strengthen your study skills and utilize your time wisely, while at the school.
Get in good physical condition, learn all of your DEP-PQS (http://www.corpsman.com/recruiting-info/delayed-entry-program-dep-success-accelerator/) modules and if you still need more....get a hold of a basic Anatomy and Physiology book and bone up on that. Civilian medicine (EMT) is a little different from military medicine, so I wouldn't get into EMT studies until after Corpsman 'A' school.
A good many Corpsman have already posted under the main thread, "NHCS Information (http://www.corpsman.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=78)". Spend some time in there and gain valuable insight from those who have gone before you.
We wish you the best of success!

Shipmate.. if you want to prep a bit.. then I would just do what 8404 said.. It is to easy to get wrapped around the poll with stuff and you will get yourself in trouble. This is also because stuff changes so fast at NHCS.
Good Luck.
