Well, I've finally reached 100 days until my ship date and I get more and more excited with each passing day. Just the thought of everything I will get to see and experience, it just overwhelms me.

Lately, I have been thinking of all the possible duty stations and how the possibilities are just endless. But the more I think about it, I'm not sure what I'd enjoy the most! As a kid growing up I always wanted to join the Navy and be on an aircraft carrier. But right now I feel like my career in the Navy would never feel complete if I didn't get that FMF pin. Then to top that off, I'd love to be on a Sub as well. So Chief and everybody else, I really want to know what some of your favorite types of duty were. And I'm also kind of wondering, if I put my 20 in, what are the odds of me getting to serve all 3?

Be a real Sailor.. Let the Navy Choose for you..

This was the way it was for my first Duty Station..

:-)

Seriously, mine was NAS NOLA JRB.. Loved it.. But Overseas.. NS ROTA.. was great as well.. it is the gateway to Europe..

I can tell you that it goes by Class ranking again for orders.. the better you do the better orders you get..

What is also nice.. It don't matter if your a Fleetie or not.. Best Score gets the best orders that are offered to that class. I think this is a great deal as some fleeties come in thinking it is "P..A..R..T..Y" time..

Good Luck, and congrats.. it is a amazing time..

I would have to say that my best duty station was all of them I was stationed. I had a blast with the Marines in Iwakuni Japan, I loved all the training I received. I made the most of each duty station I was at, but loved the travel involved, including the Persian Gulf and the stops over in Subic, Phuket Thailand and Hong Kong.

It's all what you make of it. I submitted dream sheets and took it all in.

Phuket? :err:

I didn't name it, but I sure got some weird looks from others when I wore the tee shirt I got from there. [pronounced foo-ket or poo-ket depending on who told me]. Spent five days there coming back from the Persian Gulf. Very nice place and the seafood was excellent!!!

My advice would be to serve in all 3 facets (green side, blue side and sea bees)to make yourself a better candidate for Chief.

Grades don't dictate orders anymore in corps school. Having recently graduated (june 08), you don't have much choice in orders coming out of Great Lakes, the only choice we had was FMTB, east or west coast, or oversees.

Yes they do, but the Needs of the Navy, always takes precedence!

I would have to say my favorite duty station so far was Portsmouth VA. Yeah alot of people don't really care for VA much, but i loved working in the ER. I kinda miss being just a HM; had alot of opportunities to do different things, but being a pharmacy tech isn't bad. Pensacola is not a bad duty station either; nice weather all yr round except hurricane season.
