View Full Version : Fitness Section
Chief,
I think a fitness section in the "Recruits/training" section would be a great addition to the site. When I first Depped in, I was looking all over at different websites to try and find some tips and training techniques that helped me immensely during the past 6 months. It would also be nice to have some people post some of their own stories and accomplishments in this section so people who may be discouraged or worried about PFTs, etc. could get some words of encouragement. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
DEP Moons;
An excellent suggestion. I might add placing a sub-section for PRT (Navy) and PFT (Marine) and perhaps posting the policy which coincides for each.

I think that this is a great idea to!
I really need something like this. A fitness section. *sighs*
The best thing one can do while in DEP is to utilize your DEP-PQS Physical Fitness "Getting Prepared" section, pages 46 -57. It outlines everything you need to do to prepare for RTC training.
For those requiring a little more of a challenge try and meet the following standards:
See OPNAVINST 6110.1H Naval Physical Readiness Program (http://doni.daps.dla.mil/Directives/06000%20Medical%20and%20Dental%20Services/06-100%20General%20Physical%20Fitness/6110.1H.pdf)
or ...

PROGRAM MANUAL (SHORT TITLE: MCPFTBCP)
(http://www.gwu.edu/%7Enavyrotc/docs/MCO%20P6100.12%20W%20CH%201.pdf)
If you need running programs advice, Navy OCS offers the following running program (which works pretty well): https://www.netc.navy.mil/nstc/otcn/Common/PFA/PFA_Running_Program.htm, or for workout routines in general http://www.stewsmith.com/ offers a variety of articles, routines, e-books and print books to help build a comprehensive workout program.
Always remember though to drink plenty of water, warm-up and stretch!

And Please emphasize STRETCH! It important before and AFTER you work out. Otherwise you will pay for it in the morning.
