Hello, I have a question to anyone who may know this for certain..

I am an FTS Corpsman, but was pulled by a REGNAV command to deploy for a period of 180 days to Europe.

My FTS command is telling me I do not rate a sea service medal, however the REGNAV command tells me I do. The FTS command thinks I do not rate the medal because I was TAD to the REGNAV command, and not really deployed.

Do I rate the sea service medal or not? I am very confused.

:err:

I was just reading through that when you posted the link for it.. Just to re-iterate what it says to make sure I am understanding it correctly, I do not rate the sea service medal unless I am TAD to the gaining command for 12 months and also deploy for 90 days, correct?

This is just opinion, but Marine units that deploy/TAD to okinawa from camp pendleton for 6 months get the sea service. I do not see why they refuse to give it to you. Maybe you can ask any POC in Europe for a memorandum?

Everyone in the command I am TAD to said to just give a copy of my orders to PSD and that they will just automatically give me the sea service medal so I am going to try and do that.

Thanks! :bunny2:

I achieved the sea service ribbon while on an IA to EMF-Kuwait, mainly cause i was here longer then 90 days, first timers get the ribbon for the 90 day in theatre, I also achieved an Army Commendation medal while being here, waiting on seeing if i got a NAM also....8 point going into my first time up for HM3 has a lot going for me!
