Of the 2 billets, which would be better, Oceania, Virginia or Camp Pendalton? Can someone give me information about of each of them?

I live in Camp Pendleton now. What would you like to know?

Do singles (E-3) live in base housing or get housing allowance? What is the base like, much to do? Much to do on the outside? What kind of housing is available, intramural sports on base, just in general is it a good place to live?

If you are blueside, you can run a chit and you have a chance. It all depends on what percentage the barracks are manned at.

Greenside, very unlikely.

The base is GIGANTIC. Lots to do both on and off base. The beach is close by and FMSS is actually right on the coast. Theme parks are not too far either. Plus, you can always hit up San Diego anytime too.

Oceanside is EXPENSIVE, but north of the base is not that bad. Sports and anything to do with Physical Fitness is huge on this base. The base is very family orientated with leagues going on all the time. You name it, Pendleton has it (even paintball).

Overall, I love it here.

So were you saying base housing is what is hard to get? If orders are to Pendleton then what, just get on a waiting list for base housing and rent off base till then? Do you work at the Naval Hospital there? How is it?

Sorry about that.. I didn't read the base housing. I was referring to BAH in general. Base housing happens if you have a family. If you are single and going greenside, BAH is a slim to none chance.

Hospital is alright I guess, I am looking forward to MLG though. This will be my last week of working hospital duties and then I class up for FMSS.

Question,
I'm ex-Navy, was stationed at NHCP then did my FMSS at Pendleton. I am goign on vacation in the area in July. Am I able to go on the base as a visitor to show my wife around and where I was stationed?

Ohhh Ex Navy?? Not sure there Husker.. you will have to see if you can get a visitor Pass from thier Pass and Liaison Office.

Every Base is different, but Security restrictions are much higher now..
