I was just wondering if there were any other FTS Corpsman on the green side lurking around these boards?

Margaret,
FMF=Fleet Marine Force, (What your husband was in)
FTS/TAR= Full Time Support/ Trainnig and Administration of Reserves.
TAR/FTS are Active Duty Support for the Reserves.
Hope this clears this up.

Chief , we need a secrete squirrel decoder ring. I've been out for awhile and don't know all the new jargon either. Besides i have to carry 2 rings one for the military and the other for the civilian side. ttfn (ta ta for now)

You may request it as soon as you report to your NOSC, but (1) that does not mean you will get it and (2) it does not mean you will get greenside orders. A few slots are out there though...

There isn't anything out there right now for FTS HMs below E-4. I already looked.

All,
Don't just look!! Put in a application to go FTS!! I don't know how many people have told me that they were told there are no billets but then get accepted. I can tell you as well that the 8404 Community in the Reserves are severely understaffed. You can put in a application to go FTS for each board, do it until your selected if your evals are good and you have stayed out of trouble..
Good Luck
P.s I was one of those people years ago who was told that I could not go TAR!

(1) The computer is not always right.
(2) Even when the computer is correct, it still only shows a snapshot of open billets available at the time it was last updated.
(3) Soon-to-be-vacant billets often do not get any mention in the computer.
(4) Sometimes a name gets plugged in the computer for a vacant billet but something falls apart before the body actually reports for duty so the billet remains unfilled.
(5) Many billets allow a paygrade variance of one up/one down (+1/-1). In other words a HN or HM2 could be assigned to fill a HM3 slot.
(6) Improve your evals and study for the exam so you can be promoted to E4 & above for those open slots you speak of....
If you want it, then make it happen. By not submitting a package you are automatically eliminating yourself and surrendering a career goal. That is like waving a white flag or scuttling your ship because you heard a rumor.
Fantastic advice on number 6 Chief PJ.
That is exactly what my son has been doing in the Navy. Making things happen for him that are good for his Naval career.

I'm FTS but not greenside yet. I am leaving my NOSC in about a year and will hopefully be attending FMTB on route
