I have a friend who is currently in A school and he mentioned to me that he heard while on base that bootcamp is now 13 weeks as opposed to 8. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I am leaving for boot on Monday...it would be good to know.

What to Expect (http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/recruits/training.html)
"Recruit training, or "boot camp," will be approximately 8 weeks long.
The goal of this training is to transform you from a civilian into a Sailor with all of the skills necessary to perform in the fleet. Your training will include physical fitness, seamanship, firearms, firefighting and shipboard damage control, lessons in our heritage and core values, teamwork, and discipline. Your training will be challenging but highly rewarding. Are you ready to Go Navy?"
As far as the 'official' documentation depicted above, it is still approximately 8 weeks in length. But please note the key word "approximately".
For a definitive answer, you can either ask your Recruiter or email the RTC public affairs office at: rtc.pao@navy.mil (rtc.pao@navy.mil)
We wish you the very best at RTC.
