Hey I just signed up to this forum and have so far learned tons...thanks to all who put this on...anyway I am thinking about becoming a corpsman for RECON marines and was wondering if you have to go through FMTB before you can begin BRC or if you can just skip it...I would be surprised if you could but I had to ask....thanx again

ckroeker11,

Welcome to corpsman.com!

With regard to your question about RECON, this thread should have some answers for you: http://www.corpsman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30548&highlight=recon. From what I understand, you volunteer for RECON screening during FMTB thus there is no 'skipping' Field Med Training!

Hope that helps, and let us know if you have any more questions.

Again, welcome!

Boot Camp
Corps School
FMTB Recon Screening
Pre-BRC Mandatory
BRC Mandatory
Sere Mandatory
Jump/MMPC
MCD/Dive is currently not mandatory and offered at space available only
Dive Med...Cannot cover dives with out certification
18D Short Course...not everyone goes to 18D immediately. It could be after a deployment or two. Mission first. Reservists are now only required to go to Paramedic School for their 18D certification... continuity...? WTF? Yes I think I heard that somewhere before Navy! But Paramedic plus Dive Med plus TCCC and OEMS/CTM should really cover most of it.

18D Long Course... IDC

does anyone know the exact details of the recon screening test?
is it the exact same as SEAL/Diver/SWCC/EOD?
