Hello all! I'm currently a DEPer. I'll be leaving for Bacis Training on 16May2007. After boot, I'll be off to A school (Corps school). At least that's how I lead to believe it goes.

I have beenhearing that males go straight to FMSS out of corps school. Is this correct? Also do good grades in Corps School really help your chances of going to the Command of your choice?

I also hear it's all self-paced computer based training. Are there any new sailors out there who can go into more detail on how that goes? Do I just go to class and sit infront of a PC all day and then take a test when I feel like it?

Thanks!

Yes, currently all males that graduate from Corpsman 'A' School MUST go to FMSS.

One thing you'll learn very quickly is that the needs of the Navy always come first. You'll better your chances in going somewhere you'd like to go if you do well in 'A' School, but if the Navy needs you somewhere else, that's where you'll be going.

All of Corpsman 'A' School is done on on the computer. You'll go through your lessons at your own pace and take tests based on what you've learned.

Do a little more browsing through the forums and you'll find morethorough answers to your questions.

Hope that helps.

Hey thanks alot for the answers. It was much appreciated. Now it looks like it is really time to step up the cardio. I understand that we have to pass the PRT for both Navy and Marines. Ugh... Right now I'm struggling with the navy run. Thanks again!
