can he go overseas

My son will be graduating next month from Corps School. He says most all who graduate in March are getting orders to go to Japan. He got a misdemeaner while in high school for being involved in a fight. I read somewhere that your first assignment can't be overseas if you have anything on your record. Is this true? If so, where, most likely will he be sent?

Ma'am,

Nope he won't be able to go overseas to Japan, He will be here in the states, but He can and most probably will be in a deployable unit that does go overseas. This is hard-written and nothing we can do. Have him come and see HMC Crone when we get back on Tuesday and I will explain it to him.

I hate doing this to you, but I need to speak to him. Not that I don't want to tell you, I can't tell you. Privacy act and all. It's up to him to let you know.

After he does that, I can then let you know how it all works. I know it sounds like I am feeding you a line, but we want these kids to:

1. Grow up, and learn to take care of themselves..

and

2 I have to follow the law. I cannot divulge (Even if I know) where or when he would go. Once he tells you, I can explain it all here..

Sorry, hope this helps, Have him see me ASAP on Tuesday, Do you know if he had to sign a "WAIVER" to get in? If he didn't we might have some leeway, but most of the time they have to sign em to get in if they were in trouble with the law.

Oh sorry, of course he needs to be the one to get the info. I was just kind of anxious about it and where he will go.

He did have to get a waiver to get in, He said they told him on Fridayhe was going to Japan, but he questioned it because of the misdemeanor and the person he was talking to said they would check it out and for him to comeback on Tuesday. I'm surprised they didn' have that information when they told him Japan, He told me he will be going back on Tuesday. Should he still come talk to you?

Yes have him come and see me and I will expedite it all. I should be in after 0830 or so. Make sure he reminds me who he is and that you sent him. If not he will get the deer in the headlights look as I see about 50 Students a day with the gamut of problems.

Thanks hope we can get this worked out, but if he has a waiver, he won't be going overseas to be based there. I can get into the in's and out's as to why it was not handled Friday but suffice it to say, quite a few people will tell us they have a waiver but they don't and we cancel the orders, so we investigate now.

He is regular enlisted, not reserve. does that make a difference? He said that only the reserve guys are going to FMSS

He said some are getting orders to Bethesda, Md. and some to Hawaii.are either of thosean option for him?

I don't know what was there Friday are probably already gone, each day is a different mission etc..

Let's just wait til Tuesday and get'er figured out. I know your apprehensive as your a Mother, I totally understand, but there is nothing we can do about it at this second.

I will get it done Tuesday, if you would, Tuesday AM send me a PM with your email address and once I talk to him and he gives me the "OK TO TALK TO MOM" I will write you back.

I can tell you this as god is my witness, I serving with the Marines freaks people out, but you could not ask for a better bunch of people to serve with, and I would want to be attached to a Unit as a member then someone who is "Temp".

The Students seem to think that being assigned stateside or to a Hospital or Clinic means you don't go to the Sand Box, quite the contrary, As the Force has put to us, you can count on being deployed at least once probably twice on a shore tour these days.
