Hey what's up guys I come before you to get some confirmation on some snippet of information I picked up around the office and I've heard that apparently the Petty Officers and RDC's over at Great Lakes have a knack for picking on fresh Rickys out of the NJ,NY, Philly area.:rmad: My recruiter said that anyone showing up to RTC from there is automatically an ex-RICO convict (lmao :D)

So does this hold any truth so I can square myself away now way before I ship in AUgust and prepare to be picked on for my "Jersey Attitude" or can I just ease my way into what I need to do in order to be prepared and have no worries of being discriminated against? I heard this happened to a Marine buddy of mine who got ravaged in boot camp for his fine display of his Jersey roots so yeah I'm kind of concerned whether I have to run an extra mile or two in boot just because I live 15 minutes away from where Whitney Houston had her first experience smoking that glass $$$$$.:p

What you have experienced is what is referred to as Deck Plate Scuttlebutt! Rumors ...

The Navy does not "discriminate". Anybody with an attitude, had best leave it at the front door!

Remember you are a part of the Navy team, regardless of 'where' you hail from!

Preparation and what to expect for RTC, (http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/index.html) is fully explained on their website, the DEP-PQS (http://www.corpsman.com/recruiting-info/delayed-entry-program-dep-success-accelerator/) book and the Navy's START Guide (http://www.corpsman.com/recruiting-info/official-delayed-entry-program-guide/).

PS: Watch your choice of words within the posts, we have family members who visit us!

You have 'heard' wrong - the Navy is an equal oportunity service, and I can assure you that about boot camp you will experience this - everyone will be 'picked on' equally. Having said that, if you choose to display 'attitude' that is not in line with the training that you are receiving, then yes, you are likely to receive extra attention, but that has no bearing on where you are physically from.

Easiest thing to do is do what you are told, when you are told to do it and life will be fine.
