So my hubby has been at RTC for almost 2 weeks now. I just got his box of stuff yesterday. I still haven't gotten any letters or phone calls yet but I am holding out hope that those will come soon. I did get an info sheet with his address at the beginning of this past week and gave it out to his friends. I have been sending him letters almost daily so he definitely won't be short on reading! :) We miss him tons but the kids keep me busy enough I can't sit and dwell on it.
Anyway the reason for this thread is I did have a couple of questions....We are planning on going out to Chicago for the graduation, I have never been to Illinois so I was wondering if anyone had any tips/advice for going, especially since I will have 2 kids (one of which is a toddler) with me.
Also any recommendations of things to do that are family friendly and close by? I read he has to stay within 50 miles of the RTC while on Liberty and I checked mapquest for the zoo b/c we thought of going there but it is over 50 miles away.
Thanks in advance! :D

Hello again;

I want to ensure that you have the link for Recruit Training Command (http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/index.html) and to let you know on that site, it lists the graduation dates for respective divisions. Also, I've provided some additional links which may answer some of your questions.

LIBERTY INFORMATION (http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/recruits/rules.html)

Graduation Day Schedule (http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/family/schedule.html)

Upcoming Graduations Schedule (http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/family/upcominggrad.html)

Naval Station Great Lakes - Recreation (https://www.cnic.navy.mil/greatlakes/index.htm)

There is also a train, which goes into Chicago, however, I'm not sure if it's within the 50 mile radius travel restriction.
