I know there is a PT program at NHCS. What does it consist of? I'm guessing lots of running and calisthenics, but I don't want to stop my current workout routine. Is there a gym there for students to use in their free time? Thanks.
I check into NHCS is 81 days. Woo!

PT is a bit of a joke here at NHCS. You PT with your class or possibly the entire batalion on Wednesdays, so you move at the slowest runners pace.
The push-ups, POW's, and ab workouts can be pretty good at times. The bottom line is that you will have to continue your routine when you get here.
I am in Charlie company and I have PT'd 3 times in the 4 weeks that I have been classed up, so I hit the gym on base a few times a week.

What Doc Hopeful hasn't told you is that it just got finished snowing for the year etc.. the temps were -30 degrees just a month ago.. Do the math..
I promise you if you are here in the spring or summer, you will PT 3-4 times a week. Will run up to 2-3 miles at a time.. Do hundreds of push-ups, I don't know how many crunches..(To many to count) and several Several Several Leg lifts..
Unfortunately due to our climate here in the winter and early spring it is hard to PT in the Snow..

Bring the pain, chief! :D
We are PT'ing a little more now, it's true, but the runs are still a joke. The pace is too slow. You also have to factor in all the stops for the rear to catch up and today we had 15+ fall out for a head stop.
There is no way the marines run this slow which is why I say you need to PT on your own.
I wouldn't mind Maine as a duty station. I am from Minnesota. :D Now, the port and starboard watch...we may have to talk about.

There is a gym (a couple actually) on base that is pretty good. The NEX sells GNC products. You're good to go!

With the new standard operational procedures with students performing PT together and the days being more scheduled for you, I have a question.
Will students who have a desire to pursue SPECWAR (both Navy and FMF) be allowed to have extra time set aside for more PT?
Is this something the Dive Motivator makes happen?
Lastly, I am not interested in Underwater Demolition Teams, only FMF.
Does the Marine Corp have personnel there to recruit for their billets?
Or does all their recruiting take place at FMTB?

I can only answer some of the questions. PT has actually become less of a thing now depending on who you have for an instructors. Before you would probably PT 3 times a week. Now it is only scheduled once. However some classrooms are PT'ing amongst themselves some more than others. I know 207 has PT'd everyday this week. However 211 has not. Its a crap shoot.
So basically if you want to be in shape...use your time to stay in shape. Dont drink and buy food that will help this out.
Dive motivators are serious about what they do. Not the actual job mind you (they are EXTREMELY serious about that of course) but about who comes to PT with them. IE they are VERY wary of people trying to get into their workouts just to stay in shape. If you go DIVEMO then you had better be GOING FOR Divemo if you know what I mean. These guys have set aside times at 0300 in the morning and PT for about 2 hours. From what I understand even their warm ups are more difficult than the most stringent workout you recieved in Boot camp. Be warned. You have to make minimum standards to join them...but have to exceed them to stay in.
The rest of your questions will have to wait for someone more knowledgeable.
Hope this helps.

Thank You.
I just recalled that SARC do go to NHCS for Instructor duty.

Dirty Name,
I am confused by your question.
You will have the fun time of PT'ing twice on some days..
Dive Motivator @ around 0330 then you get ready for the day.. then PT again later with your class if they PT...
You will get yours in... PT with DIVE Mo is required for Special Forces.
Also you don't get Dive MO for FMF.. Only RECON.
Good Luck
