My Fiancee and I are trying to plan a wedding. We want to wait until she is finished her first deployment or towards the end of it. If she were to spend the first one at a hospital location, how long generally would she be there for? I know the times probably vary but what is the average length of a shore duty at a hospital.

Thanks!

Short answer is approximately 36 months unless shortened by the member requesting to terminate to go back to sea or go to a school etc. Also keep in mind that folks on shore duty can be pulled for Individual Augments and other platform deployments, so it may not be a continuous 36 months.

An HM with no 'c' school has a rotation of 3 years sea and 4 years shore.
An HM with 8404 has a rotation of 4 years sea and 3 years shore.

These are the new sea shore flow from Oct08. All the other 'c' schools have their own which can be found in this force newsletter

Whats the OBLISERV for a corpsman coming into MEPS these days? My orders (for one of the big 3) is only a 2 year shore duty (almost over THANK GOD). My sea tour is 3 years. Just trying to get a grasp on what's going out there with rotations.

According to CRUITCOM, the required OBLISERV for a new HM is 60 months or 5 years (whichever units you prefer :D ), regardless of HM or HMDA program.

The 'memo' changes frequently, LOL. The latest rotations can usually be found in the NAVADMINs published to the fleet, found here: http://www.npc.navy.mil/ReferenceLibrary/Messages/.
