Have a quick questions.

I am scheduled to graduate may 15th, but not to leave til around the 27th so my orders say.

I am to be on PSI duty til August 8th....this is my FMTB class up date.

So what exactly is PSI duty? My PSI duty is to the naval hospital at Pendleton...what can a fresh corpsman do there?
Can I have my POV there? (I can bring it the day i am finished with leave)
What are the hours of PSI duty? (I want to work...but I have some Journey concerts coming up I gots to see! haha)
Is there duty sections like at Corps school? Weekends off?
Please tell me they PT us at PSI...I heard PFA every week :)
Idk what else to ask...but if there is any other things ya'll think I should know please share.

Thanks mates.

I did my PSI @ Lejeune, so it maybe different, but how it worked with with us was they put us in the Hospitals barracks, and we were delegated to work in various clinics (I was in General Surgery outpatient clinic). A large number of corpsman were delegated to work for the grounds/facilities crew. They'd be digging trenches, planting flowers, picking up trash, awful duty. Yes you can have your POV, and yes you have weekends off unless like in my case the security locks @ the Labor/Delivery malfunction, and they make you sit baby watch. Needless to say, you're gonna be free labor for someone LOL, and yes they PT, every morning we'd form up, and do some type of moto PT. Get ready, you're gonna be so moto after FMTB, always happens, its ok.

haha got to love the military, take a corpsman fresh from school ready to get hands on teaching and make them dig ditches. oh well build up that upper body strength.

My son is currently is PSI duty and he has been busy giving shots and drawing blood from new Marines. He is really enjoying the duty. He told me a Gunny complimented him for his caring attitude and gentleness is giving the injections.

His orders show him starting FMSS school in August also.

If you have a car it would be best to take it to Pendleton. It is a huge base. I believe it was about 5 or 6 mile from the main entrance to the hospital and BEQ. Bus service to Oceanside takes about 1 hour. Also there is a lack of beds in the BEQ so I hope you are 5' 8" or shorter and can sleep on a cot. My son bought a sleeping bag to use as a mattress as the cot was too short and uncomfortable.

i was at camp pendleton hospital for PSI around september and october... just know that PSI is the BEST duty you will ever have!!! the pay is good, and you work from 0730 to 1500!!! easy!!! i worked in labs, and therefore am a pretty good stick... also there is no watchstanding what so ever... and the PT is GREAT!!! its not easy, so, for me thats good!! and yes while on psi it takes about an hour to get to Oceanside, but the bus picks you up right outside the hospital... also when you get to field med, you are on camp delmar so the bus to oceanside takes like 5 minutes!! i had some of my best times while in pendleton now im in okinawa, japan... be aware man just several months from now you will probably deploy, already i am deploying to afghanistan with a ETT team... i also found out that i just picked up HM3 yesterday...
whoooo!!
hey say hi to HM1 johnson for me at field med... haha
