I received an email from HMC(SW/FMF) DAVID SISK about sending care packages/letters to the Health Services Department onboard his ship.

I have a list of 50+ names of sailors who are 2/3 of the way through their float and would LOVE to receive packages and letters as the morale level is starting to wane in their group.

If you would like to adopt one or more of these sailors please contact me ASAP

deedee@corpsman.com (deedee@corpsman.com) and mention the USS JOHN C STENNIS in your email.

Thanks for your support

I wanted to thank all who have adopted these sailors - of over 50 names, we have 19 left that are looking for support from home. Our window for sending packages is shrinking FAST, we only have about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks to get packages out if we want them to be received before the float is over. If you are interested in adopting one (or more) of the remaining 19 please email me ASAP deedee@corpsman.com

Thanks again to all who have already adopted and sent out packages

Hi DeeDee
I just wanted to report in that I've been happily corresponding with my adopted Sailor (as well as an Army soldier in Iraq I had adopted earlier this year). Initially it was through the old fashioned mail but found electronic mail was possible and preferred. Although I make it a point to keep sending cards.
Anyway, I wanted to tell you the Corpsman got a care package from me the other day. He was very happy and said it was a good surprise, I hadn't told him of my intention. I included recreational sports equipment (as you suggested), reading materials, a DVD and plenty of snacks. His cruise is just about up. Let me know if you need me again.
