Choosing orders....!?

Tomorrow is the big day for me! I can't wait!

My problem is I can't decide on where I might want to go. I understand I am at the mercy of the needs of the Navy, but even still I will get to choose from what's available.

I have no idea. Any insight? Opinions?

If you are in Corps school, you're orders will be already chosen for you. FMSS and if a class is not readily available you will be stationed somewhere close by until the class opens up. More in likely you will be working in a BAS on a Marine Corps base.

I think you're in a good situation. You don't have your hopes set on one place, so if you don't get that place, it won't be a big deal. That's something a lot of younger guys don't really get a handle on and can deal with until they've done a few tours (myself included). Your attitude is going to make the best out of where ever it is you get stationed, and I say you've got a great mindset.
However, 3rd MarDiv is out here in Hawaii. With the great weather and even better beaches, it's a nice place. If you can't deal with island fever, because believe me you'll get it, then I wouldn't suggest coming out. Haha. =)

As far as I am aware, we get to choose from the 'needs of the navy' pile based off of our test scores. If that has changed then it has done so within the last month and no one has said anything...not even a peep from the rumor mill.

Yeah, while standing my watch tonight I thought about where I might like to go and everywhere sounded great. Well, minus Mississippi or New Orleans so I guess if I land anywhere other than those two then life will be great.

The biggest thing to remember, is no matter where you go or end up, it's all what you make it. Keep a good attitude and everything will work out fine.

Hopeful - I have heard good and bad about everywhere - no matter where you go just make the best of it - learn everything you can from the people around you - be the very best Corpsman you can - set a good example for the guys that come after you.

I don't think I will be out there till October. It's hard to say because the orders are just verbal at this point and not set in stone. Once I see them pop up on BUPERS then I will be in the know. At this point I don't think I will class up at FMSS till September 13th (that's the word at this point) so I really don't know. Either way I am grinning from ear to ear! :D
