Ok, here is the deal. DH has orders for GL detach 1 July report NLT 21 Aug. His command doesn't need him, as in he isn't even on the roster since his return from deployment. They have said repeatedly he can go, even signed off on ORDMOD. Millington is saying ORDMOD will take FOUR WEEKS and by then it will be time to PCS anyway. I need him here ASAP! I am EFMP and had to move ahead to the mainland w/o him b/c of complications. He has a sh!t ton of leave on the books but they(Millington) won't let him take it on the front end of this PCS, it has to be taken on the back end. Or so they say.

If anyone is following me, do you have any insight into this issue...am I missing something somewhere? Sometimes I really hate the Navy, I've already been without him for 8mos (minus 2 weeks when he came home) so I'd really like to have him home. I know the Navy doesn't care about me as I was not part of issued gear, yadda yadda yadda. But seriously, there has to be some way to make this happen, whiskey tango foxtrot?!

I'm not sure I'm understand the front/back end deal, but your husband's command signs off on the leave until he checks into his new command. If the orders authorize 30 days leave, then (working backwards) if his report NLT date is 21 Aug, that puts him at 21 July then subtract travel/proceed time (at a minimum of 12 days I'm guessing, crossing country and all) which puts him at around 9 July for a detachment date. You are only authorized to delay the amount of time specified in the orders though.

However if he has leave on the books, there is nothing to stop him dropping a leave chit and using what he's got for now until he has to return for his detachment date.

It's all about who pays for what. If he takes leave while still on the books for his command, they are eating a certain amount of money per day for having him on the books even if he is on leave.

Once he detaches, he is then on BUPERS books.. Etc..

Now you would think they would let him go and just check out from afar.. Nope if something were to happen to him prior to PCS leave he would be shipped back to his command to be taken care of because he is still on "THEIR BOOKS" and they can't PCS anyone who is not in 100% shape.

Hope you understand.

Thanks guys. I just don't get why an ORDMOD couldn't get put through..they said it would take 4 weeks. I should know by now that if it is something I want it takes forever, if they want it ... it will happen yesterday. It's still all up in the air, we shall see.
