Greetings,
Do you have a question about being assinged to a Naval Hospital or a Clinic? Ask it here and one of your shipmates will probably give you some good gouge.
Do you need to know info about a area you are transferring to? Ask here!

Da-Chief.
I am stationed at Naval Hospital Sigonella, Italy at the moment but in about 6 month I will be on my way to Naval Hospital Great Lakes. I am a navy brat and this will be my first time living in the US other than boot camp and A school. If you have any advice all would be greatly appreciated. :D

So how can we the crusty and salty crowd help? I never even saw that hospital in GL, nor did I attend A school there. I'm a product of the old USNH San Diego.
That probably accounts for my smiling face, laid back attitude and the copy of Surfing for Fat Guys under my pillow. Gosh retirement is fun.

I am currently stationed in Great Lakes. First off, it is no longer a hospital. A lot of the medical services have transferred over to the VA hospital. Its the place where youdid your clinicalsback inCorps school. Now theformer hospital is still open, yet it is now considered an outpatient clinic. The command is not bad, but don't expect it to be the good times youmore than likely had in Italy. Its hard toget a goodcommandgauge. But I'd say most of us would say yes,if wewere asked if we enjoy it here.Keep in mind you are comingat the middle of a complete transition of our services to the VA. So expect that. As foroff duty time, its great. You have options like Six flags, Navy Pier, sears tower, the cubs, and bears. And there is a whole other statenorth of us that I haven't explored, Wisconsin.
