I know it seems like a obvious question and probably going to get obvious answers but I was raised knowing that there was no stupid questions except how to spell your name so here it goes. Anyone want to share some golden nuggets of wisdom I know I would love to hear them. So let the lessons learned be shared for the next line of sailors so that we don't mess up too bad.

Haha, I believe that there aren't really stupid questions either. But then again you didn't really ask one either.

But for boot camp - Just shut up and do as your told. Don't get ahead of what your Petty Officers are doing ever. And don't ask them if you should do something, they will tell you to do everything and if they don't tell you, don't do it.

Boot camp really isn't that hard. You will be fine I'm sure

Be prepared for those who don't mind talking out of line throughout boot. They are always there. Listen to the stamp instructions and do as much as possible right the first time, lol. Try and keep the mistakes to the minimum.

Otherwise, stay quiet and do what you've been told. Good luck to you.

I'll echo all of that, but don't limit it to boot camp. Take those lessons to the fleet as well - learn as much as you can as you progress through the ranks, and then start teaching it to those who follow you...

I've always been taught "Sit down, shut up and listen then ask questions if you don't understand".

Aww hell. Here's the best advice..

JUST BE A "YES-MAN"...
;-)

Just Say Yes to everyone.. if they ask for a Volunteer, Knock folks the hell out of the way to be first to say

"YESSSSSS!!!!!!"

The mint of course from before is to protect you after the beatings commence...

It sucks to have someone "Yelling & Screaming" in your face with bad breath..

some words of advice I got for bootcamp was be prepared to sleep for a week sitting indian style with your seabag in your lap in line with all the other sailors in a straight line. And be prepared to throw up in your shirt in the gas chamber because if you puke on the floor they make you clean up yours and everyone elses and thats not something anyone wants to do. Oh, and be sure to work out and be in some sort of physical shape before going to bootcamp, stop smoking cigarettes and dont expect to make many phone calls
