Salutes the Ensign & the Quarterdeck........

HM3 Byrd
Service dates: July 1992-July 2000
NEC: 0000
Nickname: DOCSpanky or affectionately by my last D.O., "Lt. Holden". I will let you geniuses figure out why she called me "Lt. Holden":D

I booted in and went to Corps School in San Diego. I went briefly to LongBeach, but BRAC nailed them and my orders were changed to NAVHOSP Charleston, SC. While standing at the quarterdeck checking in, they announced the closure of Naval Station Charleston! Talk about a bad omen. I spent 1.5 years there working on "7A-VA" a.k.a. the stairway to heaven. A brief stint hanging with the OCS candidates at the Citadel, a few short floats on various frigates looking for Haitians, and then a few months in the PACU. I was transferred to NAVHOSP Keflavik, Iceland, where I spent by far the three best years of my Navy career. Learned alot and got married and had a child along the way. I then went to NAVHOSP Jacksonville, FL. Spent my last three years there, and due to worsening colorblindness, and general dissatisfaction with the "peace dividend & a democrat" reality, I parted ways after 8 years in service.

I live with my wife who was also Navy (AT3) and two kids in Middle Tennessee now, and look back upon my years of service with pride.

So where do I bunk in, or can I sleep in medical so I don't have to listen to the snoring and/or smell the "people of questional hygenics"?:err:
