Hello all.
I got into the inactive reserves in late 2007Apr and I’m in the DEP. I ship out in late September for six years of active duty! I am really looking forward to it.

The rating I picked was of course Corpsman. I am very suited for this role. I have the educational background that compliments the rating. I am a team player and loyal. I am a positive person and do not subtract morale from my teammates, but instead others enjoy working with me. I am mission driven. Basically it was Corpsman or bust for me. Guess that explain why I researched what I needed to do to get the score I needed.

I am from Roanoke VA. Single, Male. No dependents.

I spent three years at the JROTC Air Force at my High school.

I have a BS in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine (G.P.A. 3.60).
I have been working part-time at a physical therapy clinic (privately owned) as a tech. Note, in the Navy a PT tech is equal to a civilian P.T.A., so a tech is just an aide that needs no licensure or certifications to funcion.

My plan is to do well in boot camp by going to the DEP meetings and learning all that is expected for the PQS. I actually would like to be the Recruit Chief Petty Officer of the Division (until I am fired for screwing up, hehe). Regardless, I am studing up on these Recruit petty Officer jobs so that boot camp will not be too stressful. Physically, I am doing a lot of training at a nice gym with a pool. Ohh, how I love the pool. That’s probably a good thing, right? My pt ethos is based around cardio endurance and sub-maximal workloads with short rests in-between exercises. Basically, stuff right out of the SEAL PT website. Hey, it works.

My plan in A school is to stay there as long as possible until I get thrown out on my bum. Basically I want to learn the most that I can and do very well in every challenge. I have found some nice resources and am going to studying up a lot in the next four months. From what I have researched some people actually try to get out of there in days. Intriguing… To me, why not get all you can get from it. Sit down and talk with the Petty Officers and Chiefs and gets as much info as possible. After all, there are two major war campaigns the Navy is involved in currently, right?
I guess these persons are already Nurses or Doctors or transferring from other militaries.

Post A school I would like to hang out with my recruiter for a week and instill confidence in the DEPers, all the while subconsciously convincing them to change their rating to Corpsman, hehe.

From there it will be FMSS. Hopefully it will be in N.C., seeing how I am much closer to this camp, right? The research I have done so far tells me that I need to focus a lot of time on FMSS during my four months prior to shipping out. My gun lore is weak and so is my wood lore. And I do not even have my own boots or rucksack yet! COME ON!!
My goal in FMSS is… you guessed it do very well. Hopefully I can get one of the top three spots (Honor Graduate/ Super Doc/ Top Doc).

After FMSS school things get dicey. I reckon I’ll do a tour of duty on the green side. Be nice to be in with a MEU.

Nice website. Congratulations on your service and now retirement Da-Chief.

I’ll occasionally ask random questions. I promise none of them will involve the SEALS or Force Recon and me asking about their respected pipeline… Nay, I can’t promise that:p.

If anyone has any questions about enlisting or anything about preparing for boot camp/ A school/ FMSS, I’ll gladly try to help out. Between the two of us and the rest of the members of Corpsman, we should get it squared away.

Have a good’n.
