Wayyyy back in 1984 we took written tests.. Not sure these days, most things are computerized.. I will ask at school tomorrow though to some of the students who just left BootCamp.

Let you know tomorrow.

Why do you ask?

There will be some tests in bootcamp. I just entered Dec 05 and they are pretty darn easy if you study. If you slack off and play around you won't do well and can get in trouble. But there aren't any hospital corpsman quizzes in bootcamp. After you grad from bootcamp, you go across the street to the school house for Corps School. There you have classes that you take at your own pace and take tests, 13 tests in all. You have to study, but if you do all of the homework and practice questions, you should do well. There are lots of instructors, you will probably have 3 and they will be glad to help you on the tests, they may even know some of the questions on the test, hint, hint. :).

Bottom line, poor test takers did well as long as they studied. There were a few very smart people that failed because they would ratherparty and goof off, rather than study. I graduated Corps School with honors and honestly I studied when I was in school and didn't study at home too often, maybe at most 1 hour/week at home studying. Don't worry, you'll do fine. The Navy wants you to succeed! They will make sure you succeed. You just have to try. Good luck!

Well,

We don't give out answers. Actually we don't even see the test questions anymore as instructors as we don't debrief after a test like we used to. All the tests are new with different questions then before.

That being said, if you really study and realize that the school is what your there for, not for building the beer pyramid of cans etc.. you will do fine.

;-)
Good Luck

Well at least you’re not from Arkansas. (Joke I always do as one of my best buds is a Razorback fan!)

Dude did you pass High School?? Were you awake half the time in class?

Did you take underwater Basket weaving asa major in High School?? Hope not.

Seriously you have to have slept through most of HS not to be able to pass the ASVAB. Go by the ASVAB for dummies book if you’re really freaked. I have heard this is the best prep.

But if you’re thinking your going to have a hard time with this test, Please Please Please unless you Ace the thing, pick another rate. Our school is a knuckles down school. If you have a hard time with Math and learning lots of A&P in a short amount of time etc.. Think about something else. If you fail out of our school likemore then a few do, you end up chipping paint somewhere else as an undesignated person. Not fun.

Just a FYI.

Ok Dolpinmarine29.. Your about to get a bit of the Chief here..

When you are writing to us to ask us questions that pertain to you and your career, I ask that you use good grammar.

Why?

Well it shows me you know how to write etc.. and that is a big part of our job.

Plus it refelects well upon you and your professionalism.

Thats not to say in some of the BS forums you can't use "CUZ, U," and other things I see here in Net speak.

We have had people write evals (Bragg sheets) and turn them in to us with this stuff.

I know I know, I speel Badly.. :-) But I am just trying to help you out from the beginning. Get you off to a good start.

Ok now to your questions.

You have to get with your recruiter, and go to MEPS fora Physical and pass it. Do you have any medical issues? As far as the PT in Boot Camp, don't sweat it. They hardly do any.

When you get to us though that is another story, we PT A-LOT especially in the Spring Summer and Fall. Winter can be a bit harsh (Other then this year), but you have to be able to do a lot of calisthenics and run.. A LOT!

As far as when you are here and at Boot Camp, yes you will be living in the Barracks.

Hope this helps, and I hope you don't feel slammed. One thing about being in the Navy and the Military, you have to be able to take criticism (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-45,GGLJ:en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q =criticism&spell=1)it is not personal and is used as a tool to help you out. Trust me if you do come in and stay in long enough you will dole out your fair share!

Karen,

Ok I need you to do this, Go visit a recruiter. He can tell you more then we can and dates tests etc..

After visiting him/her, then come back to us with your questions. Things change everyday in our job, Recruiters should be up to speed.

Don't sign anything until you come back to us with your questions though and it is always good to give it a good 24 hours to sleep on something like this to think everything through.

I am not sure about the asvab etc..

As for Boot Camp, you learn to be a "New" Sailor, your a recruit. You will be yelled at until you fall in line as a team!.

Hope this helps..

What is calisthenics?

Da-Chief
01-03-2007, 22:44
They are Exercises. Jumping Jacks, Push ups, etc.. etc. etc.

And you have to know how to swim before coming, they will try to help out poor swimmers but you have to pass the swim test in Boot Camp prior to graduation.

If you are not the strongest swimmer, make sure you let your RDC know.

Later

Depending on the definition of troll you use, I think that is what we have here.

I am doubting this person is serious about becoming an HM or the military in general. I have a feeling the posts are simply intended to bait us into playing some stupid game to see how much of our time she waste with months of rudimentary questions

All the info she needs is readily available if she is really interested in learning.

Unless she has a serious question or needs help with something the website or recruiter can't provide, I don't know how much more time needs to be dedicated to running in circles....
