Hello fello corpsman. I am Rodney Walbecq (former)HM2/USN. I went to Corps School at Balboa in 1985 after my first deployment on the USS Lynde McCormick. I am looking for HM1 Bossellman also known as Kazoo(my teacherand an IDC). From there i went to NavHosp Millington Tn. from 1985 to 1987. NavHospKevIceland from 1987 to 1990 and then Instructor duty at Grt Lks from 1990 to 1993 and got out23May93 to Civ/Div...I regret it everyday and being a corpsman was the greatest thing I have ever done. It is what I am most proud of in my life (other than wife and kids of course)So today I found this site and it's bringing so many memories back to me. I am looking for anyone who remembers me, I guess, to talk, to catch up, to hear their stories. Most all of my students went to Desert Storm and I have always wondered if they all came back safe. I miss everything about corpman life...for those of you still in...God Bless You! and Stay IN! For those of you who got out like me, if you said you didnt miss wearing your insignia, didntmiss the respect you were given, didnt miss being called "Doc"...email me so I can call you a liar..LOL...SEMPER FI my brothers and sisters....God Bless You All!!!!!! I was in a class with a few fleeties, and we had a female HM1 (tall, around 40, short black hair ). She ran us around Balboa park all the time.
I was in the school and graduted in February 85. We were in the trailers behind building 26. I do remember 2 guys. Mike Kach from Pheonix, and Jeff Riiffle from Ohio. Ohter than them, I am clueless.
I can't find my A school picture, but going through a cabinet, I found my AVT and FMSS school certificates and my class pictures.

Hey Puckmedic, I think we passed each other. I left there early 85 as you were coming in. Was your female instructor (and I cant believe this name just came to me) Kolacathis or something like that. She was an HM2 I believe but made HM1 just before we graduated? You may have picked her up after she was done with our class. I tell ya, it was like a dream come true to go and teach at Great Lakes for my last tour. I went to Iceland for 3 years, I was an HM3...those guys from Washington came and asked where we wanted to go next...I forget what you call them..not recruiter but.....billet fillers...anyway, I had told them I wanted to teach. They said they would pencil it in but I need to make HM2. I did during that tour, forgot all about those billet fillers and put in for IDC. I was accepted. The problem came when on the very same day, those billet fillers kept their word and sent me orders to teach. I took the teaching instead. Figured after sea duty/overseas duty and then teaching, IDC would be no problem to get...but fate had it that I got out after teaching. What did the Navy do for you? Dis you ever see Corpsman: Blood Angels on the discovery or history channel? Good stuff! Take care.

You guys are killing me! I was at Corps School around that same time in San Diego. Chief Bumacarch, a female chief too she is still on active duty a master chief now though, oh yeah and Chief Russ Youngblood, he retired a fews years back as a Master Chief, as for me I singled up all lines in 2005 and retired here in Tennessee. Gosh I bet we stumbled across each other, most of my A school class was SAMS, oh yeah the nurses was LCDR Duncan or something like that, we had a barracks there at the top of the hill and Bldg 26 was the main hospital. Gosh it is a small world isn't it.
Senior Out!

yeah Kolitus or what ever. Skinny, ran all the damn time. Yep Youngblood too I remember. Any one rememebr the security department searching the barracks for missing pieces of mannequins? That was my class that had that incident.
The navy gave me a new start in life. I was shy, intimidated easily, and had low self esteem all through highschool. Not that I wouldn't stand up for myself, but i had to take a lot to get there.
Now after twenty years, I have managerial, public speaking, confidence, self respect, crisi management skills, and so much else. The commercials are true, the Navy gave me the tools to succeed. Even as I sit here unemployed (four more jobs found and applied for today) I feel confident that when some one actually sees my resume, I will be flooded with calls.
I'm no longer shy, I don't get intimidated but have been accused of intimidating others when I percieve a wrong, and my self esteem is off the charts in a positively upward direction, called cocky.
Yeah I miss it. Ran into a HM at the VA hospital who was in Lejune Naval hospital 84-88 , ortho tech named Morris. He finished and got out, says it was his worst move ever. Getting out not getting in!
