Their are a couple of new uniforms. One of the new ones is a blue and grey digital and the recruiters at my office are going to be wearing them at the end of this year. I heard they are only going to be for mechanic jobs and other things like that and not for everyon. The other one is the service uniform kind of like what the Marines have. Here are some pictures for booth of them. One of the reason they haven't brought it out yet is because they were still figureing out how to properly wear them and what kind of stuff like medals and achievements can be worn on them.

The new Uniforms are Navy Wide Uniforms for E6 and below, not just for Mechs. The Navy is doing away with the Summer Whites and the Winter Blue Uniforms as well as the Utility Uniform. The new Utility Uniform with be the Blue/Grey Digitals and the Service or Working Uniforms will be the khaki colored shirt with the black pants.

Here is the Official Navy Message on the New Uniforms:

Does that mean 8404's who complete FMTB will not be wearing the same camouflage uniform as do the infantry Marines?

The infantry does not wear a different uniform than other Marine Corps assets, they all wear the same.

A
PREDOMINANTLY BLUE DIGITAL PATTERN FOR THE MAJORITY OF OUR NAVY AND
SHIPBOARD USE; AND A WOODLAND DIGITAL PATTERN AND A DESERT DIGITAL
PATTERN FOR SAILORS SERVING IN UNITS REQUIRING THOSE TYPES OF
UNIFORMS. IT WILL INCLUDE AN EIGHT-POINT SOFT COVER AND BLACK
SMOOTH LEATHER BOOTS. BLACK SUEDE NO-SHINE BOOTS WILL BE
AUTHORIZED FOR OPTIONAL WEAR FOR THOSE ASSIGNED TO NON-SHIPBOARD
DUTY COMMANDS. BOOTS APPROPRIATE FOR THE WOODLAND AND DESERT
UNIFORM WILL BE INTRODUCED.

The above cammies are for blue side Navy. Green side Navy will still where Marine Corps green digital's (and desert for that area).

Crackerjacks are not going away. The all season (service) uniform will replace what are commonly referred to as the working whites and working blues uniform. We will still maintain the service dress whites and service dress blue uniforms.

I remember in 1974 when they were changing uniforms into the new navy. Where the dress uniform was like the Chief's and the officers. Tried to get rid of the cracker jacks. Plus they authorised the ice cream hat to be worn with the cracker jacks . Plus the work uniforms went to ball caps navy bue pants and a dark bue pull over partial button collared shirt. They sucked too. During my stint I wore either tropical whites, fatigues, or scrubs. I never wore much of the blue side stuff.

On the diggies for duty with the Corps. The Tans and Greens will not be the same. One of the reasons we are aloud to wear the Corps Diggies is we do not have our own diggies...yet. Our Green and Tan diggies will replace the Coprs that we now wear. Now the only difference will be the EGA will be no more, we will have the USN seal inplace of the EGA, all else will be the same.

Wrong.

The ONLY reason Navy personnel are allowed to wear the MCCUU (MARPAT or "Diggies") is because they are assigned to support the Marine Corps. Navy personnel not assigned to support the Marines should not be wearing the diggie MCCUU. See ALMAR 018/07 for more info, but the MCCUU is ALWAYS worn in accordance with Marine Corps uniform reg's.

Navy personnel not supporting the Marines should be wearing the old BDU (woodland or 3-color desert cammies) or a few should be wearing the Army's ACU if they are assigned there. See NAVADMIN 038/07 for details, but the ACU is ALWAYS worn in accordance with Army uniform reg's. (Obviously I am talking about uniforms and not personal protective equipment like body armor and helmet with misc camo patterns. In a CZ it is more of a "wear what ya got" situation.) Of course the SpecOps community tends to wear whatever clothing works for the mission....

The Navy's new digital BDU's, called Navy Working Uniform (NWU), will not replace the MCCUU for Navy personnel assigned to support the Marine Corps. Those sailors will still wear the MCCUU even after the new NWU cammies hit the fleet. The same goes for the ACU. There will also be more differences than simply substituting the EGA with the ACE (Navy emblem: Anchor, Constitution & Eagle). Things like cut and style will be different in addition to color and pattern. Not to mention that the Fleet will still wear black boots and, per TFU, the NWU is not considered a "tactical uniform".

Unfortunately I do not have a photo of the final version. However, here are two images for an idea what the new NWU will look like.

[] Two officers in BDU with cold weather gear (Gortex & fleece)

[] Three enlisted in early tests. Misc components & options from each made the final cut, but I think the one on the right is the closest overall.

Coast Guard is getting new uniforms too.....we just switched to these ODU's in 2001, now we are going to get a new modified version....where the material is lighter, we dont tuck them in, and the CG Emblem is embroidered into our left pocket.
But it will take some getting used to as our uniform now is "tactical" style.......meant to be tucked.......it will be strange to be wearing a dark blue ODUs not tucked in.
I can see this style working for cammies, but not solids....just my two cents...although it is a pain when you de blouse, and blouse having to tuck all that material in!!
Are you guys(Navy) happy to get these new uniforms???
