Are there any jobs closely related to this field or is therea specific field? Or perhaps simply trying to get into the nursing field in itself. What are some of the avenues one could take.

Any information is appreciated.

As w/ most jobs you receive most of the education after school and on the job..Finish nursing school while expressing an interest in peds. I would suggest doing a year or two as a nurse (peds) then going back to school for your nurse practitioner. There is a specific feild for pediatric nurse practitioners, a feild with a high demand. I believe Admiral E. Morris is a PNP (pediatric nurse prac). I would also suggest getting your BSN, and while obtaing your BSN you can take credits at the Masters level which would apply towards your nurse practitioner.

The Navy offers tuition reimbursement, but as far as i know there is no formal program that will allow you to onlyattendnursing school full timewhile on active duty.

There are, however, programs available after you finish nursing school...i.e. nurse anesthesia school that you attend while on ative duty.

Also, programs for dentists and doctors are available. If you take the MCAT or DCAT exams ( medical college aptitude/dental college aptitude tests) and score a certan number, the Navy will eagerly assist you in getting into a medical/dental school where you get paid to attend and pay back the Navy with time when you finish.

there's the MECEP program still designed specifically for Nursing still isn't there? Also

seaman to admiral program allows you to attend nursing school full time.

Both are while you are on active duty. Being a student is your only duty.

The Navy offers the Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program for all enlisted (not just medical) which will result in a commissioning once they complete a BSN degree from a nationally recognized univeristy.

The Navy will pay your base rank pay as well as BAH/COMRATS while you pay for all tuition/books and related costs.

Can read about the program, past selectees and the actual instruction here:
