This just got posted on www.patriotguard.org

In addition to this, Georgia PGR is stretched THINNNNNN this mission brings total missions in the peach state to five all on the same day!!!

If you want details on the others, go to the web site and look to the right side under "CONFIRMED MISSIONS" even if you don't live close PGR needs you this week end somewhere!!!

Here's the info on Mack's funeral

short notice honor mission

Petty Officer First Class Jeremy Mack, HM, USN

Services will be held at 3:pm Eastern Time, 30 June 07
Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church
819 Fletcher Street
Thomasville Ga. 31792-6423

Navy Hospital Corpsman, Jeremy Mack, who has served in the United States Navy for the last eleven years, lost his life last Thursday in California as the result of a motorcycle accident. Petty Officer Mack's remains have been returned to Thomasville, Georgia for burial.

The family has requested that the Patriot Guard Riders provide an escort of honor and a Flag Line.

At this time, the Patriot Guard in Georgia has been stretched to the absolute limit of its resources. This week alone, the Georgia State Captain, Gene Aultman, was informed that FIVE Honor Missions would be taking place.

For obvious reasons, it has been requested that elements of the Patriot Guard Riders from Northwest Florida assume responsibility for Petty Officer Mack, and we are doing our best to answer the call.

To the family of HM1 Jeremy Mack- I am a member of the Patriot Guard riders in West TN. I can not attend this mission as we call them, but we here at Corpsman.com are here for you. As I type this, an email is being sent out to all our members here at www.corpsman.com to at the very least post condolences here or on the PGR site.

In addition, due to five such missions in Georgia we have asked any members of corpsman.com to assist PGR with any of the missions they can reach.

It is my extreme belief that GOD alone will provide you comfort and a few folks to help you ease the way into a life with out some one you loved. It is time that heals us, and for now you stand on the edge of the beginning of the count down. It will be a long road, but not one you need travel alone, we all share the burden with you- it is simply what we do as corpsmen, past and present and it is a responsibility we hope those who will be HMs one day understand.

Let us here, those who wore the same insignia, went through the same training, shared the same experiences in uniform and who so often are the ones who must be the one to tell others the sad news of a Marine or Sailor's passing, be your shoulder to lean on now and the days to come. You are family, this is your home, we will never forget.

I can not be there for you in person, but allow me to open the doors here for each of you to come in and tell us who Jeremy Mack was beyond the person we already know as HM1 Mack. For many of the folks, him being a fellow doc is all we need to know to love him and miss him.

Hold the good memories, for those are Jeremy at his best. Hold his smile, his laugh and even his ability to come out on top for this is a trait I know he had- he was after all one of us and only the best get to be HMs.

His death will teach me, a very new rider, to never take the two wheels for granted. I will be a safer rider because of my brother Jeremy-- I wish I could ride with him, and one day I shall, right down the splendid streets of heaven. I know this and I am comforted by it.

Once a DOC always a DOC

I saw this and thought it most appropriate for our students attending Hospital Corpsman 'A' school and to our young Corpsman as well. Wear the caduceus with pride, it represents a long standing history and tradition.
================================================== ===

I AM A NAVY CORPSMAN. I POSSESS THE STAMINA AND ENTHUSIASM OF YOUTH, THE WISDOM AND EXPERIENCE OF AN OLD MAN.

I AM 3 PARTS DOCTOR, 1 PART NURSE, 2 PARTS MARINE, 1 PART YEOMAN AND 3 PARTS MOM, YET I AM 100% SAILOR.

I AM UNEMPLOYABLE TO THE CIVILIAN WORLD IN MY GIVEN PROFESSION YET HAVE BEEN THE VERY LIFE LINE FOR COUNTLESS MARINES, SOLDIERS AND SAILORS SINCE 1778.

I HAVE CARRIED MARINES FROM THE BATTLE FIELD … AND HAVE BEEN CARRIED REVERENTLY MYSELF BY MARINES WHO MOURNED MY PASSING LIKE THAT OF A BROTHER OR SISTER.

I AM YOUNG. I AM OLD. BRAVE, SCARED AND SCARRED. MY TITLE HAS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS: LOBLOLLY BOY, SURGEONS STEWARD, PHARMICIST MATE, HOSPITAL CORPSMAN, IDC, YET WITH ALL THE CHANGES I AM STILL SIMPLY KNOW AS "DOC".

I HAVE CELEBRATED PEACE; YET FELT THE STING OF WAR ON THE SEAS, IN JUNGLES, IN FOREIGN CITIES, IN WASHINGTON D.C. AND ON BEACHES OF EVERY SHADE OF SAND… WHITE, TAN, CORAL AND BLACK.

I HAVE RAISED HELL ON LIBERTY; HOPE IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE …. AND OLD GLORY ON IWO JIMA.

I HAVE REMOVED APPENDIXES ON SUBMARINES AND LIMBS IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE AND MANY OTHER PROCEDURES FAR ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT I AM EXPECTED TO DO BY THE NORMAL PRACTICE OF MEDICINE BECAUSE IT HAD TO BE DONE IN ORDER TO SAVE THE LIFE OF A MARINE OR SAILOR IN BATTLE OR UNDER THE ICE, FAR FROM A DOCTOR'S CARE.

I HAVE IGNORED MY OWN WOUNDS TO THE POINT OF DEATH IN ORDER TO STAY AT MY STATION TREATING THE WOUNDED OF MY NATION'S NAVY, MARINE CORP, ARMY AND AIRFORCE.

I HAVE THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF MEDAL OF HONORS OF ANY CORP IN THE NAVY... MOST OF THEM PRESENTED TO MY WIFE, CHILD OR MOTHER BECAUSE I WAS ALREADY IN HEAVEN AT THE TIME.

I AM PROUD TO KNOW IN MY HEART THAT EVERY MARINE WHO HAS EVER FOUGHT AND EVERY SAILOR WHO HAS GONE TO SEA ON SHIPS OWE THEIR VERY LIVES TO THOSE THEY SIMPLY, YET RESPECTFULLY KNOW AS "DOC"
