Hello HMC Crone and others,

I'm currently a CTM2(active) and as you may or may not know, my rate is going away by 2010. I've been looking into the HM rate for quite some time now, it really interests me and it's something that i really want to do, especially Fleet Marine Force. Do you guys have any advice at all that i could use?

i've been in for 4 years, and im headed to CG-57 USS Lake Champlain out of San Diego in January. i know i need to get with the career counselor, but i just wanted to check with you guys and see if there's anything i needed to know first. I do have one question maybe you could answer, as i said, i want FMF, is there anyway i could get this "promised" to me?? i dont want to be stuck in a hospital somewhere on shore or 20,000 leagues under the sea. i want to be on the front-line with the marines, or at least a surface ship HM.

thanks for any and all help, i love this site, there's a ton of info on it =)

CTM2,

best way to make sure you go FMF is when you re-enlist for HM, make sure they put it in your reenlistment contract. This can be done prior to you coming to school, make sure your CC gets in contact with the HM Detailer, I would advise it as they are hardly sending any Fleet Returnee's to the FMF right now to save money. Most are ok with this, but some are disgruntled, make sure this works for you.

Don't be suprised..

Da-Chief is outta here..

GO SOX!

Chief,

thanks for the reply! i wanted to cross-over as soon as possible since i just made Second, but i'm not due to re-enlist until OCT2008. Maybe ill just spend the next 2 years doing some sea time :D

i already started HM "A" school on NKO, just finished up with Vital Signs! it's a boring job as a CT, i'm glad they're forcing us to crossrate ;)

take care,
