I was wondering if anyone knew if there are corpsmen assigned to Special Boat teams and what the training may consist of. I am pretty much asking out of curiosity as I am looking into a SWCC reserve program. Many thanks!

Ok here we go. I can't be 100% sure of this, since I haven't actaully gone through it, but here's the scuttlebutt I've been picking up.
As of recently, HM's were in the SWCC community. They were educated first in healthcare and then sent to SWCC school. They were trained the same as the BM's, GM's, and the like that they worked with, and were generally billited in a medical support role to the SWCC's. They were their combat medics.
However, now the Navy has generated two NEW ratings. The SO's (special operators) and the SB's (special boat operators). These are the SEALS and the SWCC's.
So. No I belive that all incomming ratings to the SWCC community must earn their new rating. This effectively elminates true HM's from being SWCC, however, I'm sure HM's can be turned around into SB's and naturally be billited just as they would have been, OR be billited with SWCC's without changing their rating, and simply not becomming SB's.
I don't know how that will all work, but there you have it. What I've heard.
